Hello,
My name is Nicola, and I coordinate the recruitment and induction for the Energist Team. Looking for a new job can be emotional, hectic and very time consuming so it's good to make life as easy as possible by getting the essentials right. If you're going to succeed in becoming part of our team or are considering applying for new jobs in general I'd suggest having a tip top CV, fully up to date, detailing your most recent and relevant experience first. Keep your CV to a Maximum of 2 pages and tailor it to the role you're applying for, it seems more personal that way.
If you do all of that and can also demonstrate you have what we're looking for, you're likely to be shortlisted for an interview. It's really important for Energist that we get the right people who will fit into our award winning team so we put a lot of time and effort into our recruitment process and also your induction. Once you've been shortlisted, it's likely that the first step of the process will be a telephone interview, as most of our business is done over the phone, no matter which department you join. During that first conversation, I'm looking for an indication of your personality and potentially how you might speak to customers, so it's best to be clear and concise in your answers as waffle doesn't generally go down well.
I'd probably be looking for you to know something about Energist too, to show you've checked out our website and that you're interested in us! If you get through to the face to face stage, there will be at least one interview and perhaps two. The first is likely to be quite informal, more of a chat about you and your experience. If we meet you and like you we might offer you a 'trial' within our Talent Team. Quite simply, you come in for at least a day and we'll give you an insight into what it's like working for Energist and also it gives us chance to see if you might be what we're looking for. You'd come into a specific department and do some ‘real life' stuff and then let us know how you get on and if successful we'll invite you to the second phase - a more in depth interview.
I'll be investigating your 'competency' to do the job and ask you to give me specific examples of when you've done certain things for example where planning and priority setting is essential I'm going to ask you about the type of procedures you use to keep track of items that need your attention and also to describe a project you've implemented. If you get the job, we'll give you all the support you need to make a success of your new role at Energist. I'll be your point of contact throughout your first month, alongside your Team Leader/Line Manager. You'll have a full schedule for the first week to help you find your feet and get to know everyone quickly. You'll spend a lot of time in your new department: shadowing, reading up, telephone training, learning about our systems and processes and then over the next few weeks and months we'll get you involved in learning more about other parts of the business -you'll be busy!
Hopefully that helps you to understand what to expect in our recruitment process.
Regards
Nicola Fairhurst
