The Legislation

Since 2006 SAP has been required on all new dwellings in the UK.  It's the Government's assessment method for showing a building's predicted emission rates compared to mandatory requirements under current building regulations.  SAP takes into account insulation levels, heating efficiencies and carbon emissions.  It's complicated and time consuming - unless, of course, we are helping you!  

Now with THREE unique services for your convenience

From August 2011, we now have a choice of THREE NEW services for single SAPs.  The table below will help you decide which service fits you best:

Online, Automated, Result-only Service
  • You need the cheapest, fastest SAP Calculation.
  • You have an existing building, e.g. a barn conversion which does not need to meet emission requirements.
  • You are very experienced in SAP and know your specification will achieve a "PASS" result.
  • You don't need to achieve a "PASS" result for your Building Control Officer.
  • You have not completed a SAP before and need guidance on how to achieve the best result.
  • You must achieve a "PASS" result, come what may.
  • You want to understand how SAP works, and need to get a "PASS" result and want to understand how this affects future projects.

 

Guaranteed 'Pass' Service
  • You need a fast turnaround (fast-track service, 48 hours).
  • You need a "PASS" result.
  • You need us to liaise direct with your Building Control Officer.
  • You need a competitively priced SAP.
  • You need to know how it links with Code for Sustainable Homes.
  • You have less than a £120 budget (we recommend the online option).
  • Renewable energy sources and sustainable technologies are very important to this project - instead we recommend the Profit Protection option (or add an Energy Statement for a more comprehensive review of potential solutions and cost savings).
  • You don't need a "PASS" result (we recommend the online option). 

 

 

Profit  Protection
  • You would like to know the intricacies of how SAP operates, with the objective of being empowered to make more informed decisions.
  • You would like to experiment, at design stage, with different combinations of renewable energy sources and sustainable technologies in order to achieve the best short term and long term results.        
  • You want to reduce the risk of other options being aired at this stage of your design.

A simple 5 Step Process to your Single SAP:

1 Complete the checklist, choose your level of service, send your payment and plans.

2 Your plans and Building Specification is analysed and calculated and your Design Stage SAP is finalised.

3 Your Design Stage SAP and Predicted Energy Assessment is emailed to you, plus your invoice paid with thanks.


Sometime later, nearing the end of your build...........


4 Your Air Leakage Test is completed, and the result included in the final stage of your SAP report.

5 The As Built SAP report is completed and emailed to you.  You submit this to your BCO.
