Energy Statement

We'll challenge the Regulations to ensure your Energy Statement is right.

Energy Statement - At what stage(s) does this apply during your build?

What the Regulations say...

Energy Statements are not governed nationally, rather it is your Local Planning Authority (LPA) who set the Carbon Emission and Renewable Energy Targets. Frequently the LPA requests a 10%, 15% or 19% reduction in Carbon Emissions or Energy Use, in addition to the nationally set building regulations (Part L).

An Energy Statement is a detailed calculation report on how a development will achieve the Local Authority's Emissions Target.

Getting that all important "Yes"

  • Submit an Energy Statement with your Planning Application.
  • Ensure the Energy Statement addresses: Solar thermal, photovoltaics (PV), wind turbines, ground source heat pumps (GSHP), biomass heating systems, community heating, a 'Fabric First' approach.
  • Deviations need to be agreed with the Planning Authority.
  • U-Values and heating can play a major role.
