New dwellings had positive impact on environment for Bellway

Our assessors are not always desk bound; in this situation, Jon Ponting travelled to see the old house in order to be able to complete a SAP based on its design specification. His next job was to complete a SAP based on the proposed design and to produce a report that showed a full comparison.

Bellway were hoping for good news… and good news is what they had. The new design showed a 66% saving of CO? emissions over the old design as well as £402 per year saving on running costs. A win-win situation all round…..

The intention of this report was to demonstrate to potential customers and other “lay people” the financial benefit of moving to a new code 3 house over an existing 1960’s dwelling.

Ben Wright, Bellway

As Ben commented “The intention of this report was to demonstrate to potential customers and other “lay people” the financial benefit of moving to a new code 3 house over an existing 1960’s dwelling. The report compared an existing house with one, of a similar size, that would be plotted on the same footprint. The content of the report had to stand up to technical scrutiny but also convey the benefits in a manner that anyone could understand. The report successfully managed this and we use it for marketing to customers and in the planning process.”
