From extensions on existing dwellings, to building a 60-storey apartment block, our experienced team have worked on all manner of development projects and understand the different requirements of each. As Technical Team Leader, Aaron heads up our Daylight and Sunlight Impact Assessment service with over two year’s experience building and analysing 3D models. Although there are no specific requirements that a Daylight and Sunlight Assessment must meet, including a pass or fail criteria, it is often requested as a planning condition and must follow the guidance issued by the BRE.
Although traditionally this is a desktop exercise, if drawings and local information of the development cannot be provided, our team can also attend a site visit and conduct the assessment based on this visit. Following the assessment we will identify any high risk plots so that adaptations can be considered and made early on by your design team.
We include an initial project review with assessments, which is based on the plans you provide and allows us to immediately identify if buildings are too close and likely to cause a problem, before completing the full assessment.
With over five years’ experience performing SAP and SBEM calculations, Aaron is extremely familiar with the bigger picture and ensures that recommendations are made in line with these other disciplines. As part of our wider team we can assist with the Sunlight and Daylight Impact relating to achieving credits in BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes Assessments.
