Part L Fast Track Service saves the day

Despite efforts from Westminster to reduce the red tape and paperwork involved in the construction industry, it doesn’t seem to get any simpler.
And when you have several different companies involved on a development it can be a near-impossible task to keep tabs on who’s doing what and when. So it’s no surprise that documents occasionally get forgotten or missed, or delayed.
When that does happen, you need to know there’s a team behind you who can jump on board quickly, and help smooth over the process. That’s exactly what happened when JIG Architects discovered their site of twenty new homes were mid-way through construction, but Part L SAP reports had not yet been completed.

It’s always advised that Part L analysis is carried out as part of the design process. Current targets mean it is very easy to fall foul of these targets, and it’s far easier to make improvements to your specification when it’s on paper; nobody wants to make changes on site retrospectively.

Fortunately, the Developer’s specification was good enough to meet all Part L targets without additional work being needed.
A full set of compliant SAP reports were issued, along with Predicted Energy Assessments, which filled in the gap in the Developer’s paperwork.
Work on site can now progress; safe in the knowledge that the design is fully Part L compliant.
In this case, the design had been created with Building Regulation compliance in mind right from day one.
But this isn’t always the case… we often receive requests to complete SAP calculations on half-built sites, and occasionally on completed buildings.
